Kazakhstan conference features keynote on COUNTER and AI
17 April 2026Tasha will be a keynote speaker at the XIII International LibConf 2026 in Taraz, Kazakhstan on Thursday 23 April. The conference theme is “Age of AI: International Experience and the National AI-SANA Program”. Tasha’s presentation will be on the topic of “The zero-click library: value and trust in an AI world”
As large language models and other AI tools become the primary consumers of research content, a “zero-click reality” is (nearly) upon us. When a researcher’s interaction with a discovery tool results in an AI-generated response, instead of an article download, what does the library need to do to demonstrate its enduring value? What new reports should libraries require from publishers to prove the value of their collections when direct human interaction with the source material is declining? Tasha’s presentation will explore how COUNTER is collaborating with libraries and publishers to develop new metrics for our new AI world, including the best practice for AI usage metrics, which we will be launching next week.
Tasha will be presenting and answering questions online. Her presentation will be in English but the conference organisers hope to also make a Russian translation available to participants.
