COUNTER Newsletter, December 2022

15 December 2022

As we close in on the end of 2022, the COUNTER team wishes you all a very happy holiday and a happy, healthy 2023!

This newsletter is designed to help you stay up to date with all things usage, so I’d love to hear from you if you have news to include, events to promote, questions you’d like answered, or anything else. Having said that, the COUNTER office will be closed from the 21st of December 2022 until the 3rd of January 2023, so please be patient if you don’t hear from me during that time.

COUNTER Release 5.1

COUNTER’s fabulous Technical Advisory Group have been working hard since the consultation wrapped up in September and we’re on track to deliver Release 5.1 before the AGM next year – that’ll give everyone 20 months before compliance is required from January 2025.

The Communications Committee are also focusing on Release 5.1, with a complete overhaul of our Friendly Guides, Foundation Classes and everything else that you’ll find on the Media Library. If there’s something you would like to see, please do let me know!

For those looking for a more hands-on workshop on using COUNTER metrics, in April Tasha will be running a pair of breakout sessions at the UKSG Annual Conference in Glasgow. More details at uksg.org/event/conference23.

Save the Date: Annual General Meeting

Our next Annual General Meeting will be held on Zoom on Thursday 11 May 2023. Members, please save the date – I’ll be sending out event registration details in February.
