COUNTER conference 2026 call for proposals

16 February 2026

AI usage patterns and their impact on COUNTER metrics – 11 June 2026

The COUNTER team is delighted to announce the third COUNTER Conference alongside our Annual General Meeting on Thursday 11 June 2026. This online event will focus on AI usage patterns and their impact on COUNTER metrics.

We invite you to submit your proposals to speak and share your expertise. Topics we’d like to see include but aren’t limited to:

  • Innovations in assessing the impact of AI on usage of electronic resources
  • How libraries and publishers can help researchers demonstrate the impact of their scholarship using global usage metrics in an AI world
  • Best practices for usage metrics – both human and AI – for grey literature, datasets, multimedia and other diverse content types
  • Technical implementation approaches
  • Educational sessions

Sessions are 20 minutes each. We are also open to proposals for panel discussions of up to 45 minutes, and posters as part of a lightning session (5 minutes per poster).

Please submit your proposal using this form by 20 March 2026. We encourage submissions from anywhere in the world and from all parts of our community, but we will not consider sales pitches. We welcome proposals from anyone in the COUNTER community, whether or not your organisation is a member of COUNTER. However, we will prioritise submissions from members. If you have any questions please get in touch with sian@countermetrics.org.

We can only build the Conference programme out of proposals that we receive. If you want to hear from colleagues about specific topics, please encourage them to put in a proposal.

The COUNTER AGM will run as a session within the Conference, providing an update on our activities during 2025.

Attendance at the COUNTER Conference and AGM for non-speakers is an exclusive member benefit. For more information about COUNTER and how to join, please visit our membership page.

For information about previous conferences and events, see our events page.
