COUNTER Academy in 2027

22 September 2026

It’s still September, but plans for 2027 are well underway – including for COUNTER Academy.

Up First: February 2027

There are still some spaces available on the next cohort of Academy, which will start in February next year and run through to June. If you’re part of a member organisation and you want to become a COUNTER expert, you can register your interest in participating using the button below.

We know that budgets are under pressure, so we’ve held Academy fees at the 2026 rate for the February cohort. That means it’s just £250 for 16 weeks of training across eight topics. Thanks to our generous sponsors, we have four remaining sponsored library spaces for February. They’re allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis, so if you need sponsorship you should fill in the form ASAP.

The UKSG Cohort

Way back in 2003, UKSG was one of the groups that helped to get us off the ground. As you might have seen in Rob Johnson’s recent eNews Editorial, it’s UKSG’s 50th anniversary next year. To mark the occasion, our Board has agreed that we’ll donate the entire July 2027 Academy cohort to UKSG members. This gesture is a small way for us to give back to the UKSG community. We’ll be sharing how UKSG members can apply for one of the 25 free spaces early next year.

Academy Sponsors

Cambridge University Press sponsored multimedia editing and the original build of COUNTER Academy. APSAmerican Mathematical SocietyBentham ScienceClarivateScholarly IQThieme and Wolters Kluwer have all sponsored library spaces during 2025 and 2026.

If you are interested in sponsoring future Academy cohorts, please get in touch with Tasha!
