Impact and Community

20 May 2026

At the heart of COUNTER is a vibrant, international community of dedicated professionals. Today we extend our deepest gratitude to Heather Loehr, who has served as a Director for the past six years.

Heather’s tenure has been marked by a steadfast commitment to ensuring that we remain the definitive open standard for usage metrics. Her perspective as a librarian from a small college in the Midwestern United States has provided invaluable real-world insight. Because of her input, our work remains impactful and accessible for institutions of all sizes.

Reflecting on her time with the Board, Heather says:

“I want to thank the members of the Board, past and present, as well as Tasha and Lorraine, for a really positive experience participating in and collaborating on something that has real impact on my library and my consortium. Being able to do that as part of an international community has been a really rich experience that I would not have ordinarily had as a small college librarian from the Midwestern United States.”

Heather’s journey highlights the unique professional growth and community connection that comes with being a part of COUNTER. As Heather leaves the Board, and we bring new voices on, we know the strength of our organization lies in the diverse voices of our members. Luckily for us, while Heather’s going to take a break to focus on some very large internal projects, she does want to come back to COUNTER down the line.

Join us!

Heather’s experience shows that you don’t need to be at a large institution to have a global impact. We are always looking for passionate individuals to help shape the future of usage statistics. Whether you are interested in technical working groups, educational outreach, or future leadership roles, we’ve a place for you.

Thank you, Heather, for all of your support and help over the years. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
