COUNTER Newsletter, March 2023

09 March 2023

It’s been a very busy few months, which means lots of news! You’ll find information about Release 5.1, an announcement about a new job with COUNTER, details of upcoming conferences and an invitation to attend the AGM.

This newsletter is designed to help you stay up to date with all things usage, so as usual I’d love to hear from you if you have news to include, events to promote, questions you’d like answered, or anything else.

All the best – Tasha

Release 5.1 is Nearly Here!

An absolutely MASSIVE thank you to our Technical Advisory Group, as we are on track to send out Release 5.1 in late April 2023 (compliance from January 2025, before you lovely report providers get anxious!).

The new release comes with a completely revised set of Friendly Guides, video classes and infographics. We’re aiming to make the guides and the video class transcripts available in multiple languages, and thanks to some wonderful sponsors can confirm that German and Spanish translations will be available in the summer. If you are interested in sponsoring French, Chinese or other languages, please get in touch with me at tasha@countermetrics.org.

Register Now for the Annual General Meeting

I’m slightly astonished to find that it’s nearly a year since I started as COUNTER’s Project Director, which means it’s time for the Annual General Meeting.

All members are invited to attend the AGM, which is going to be held online on the 11th of May. If you’re part of a member organisation, please register online to let me know if you plan to attend.

COUNTER in the Community

I don’t know about you but I’m excited about the upcoming UKSG Annual Conference and Exhibition, which this year is in Glasgow.

There will be two opportunities to hear me speak about COUNTER, as I’m running a breakout session at the conference. This one is a practical session aimed at helping people work with COUNTER reports, so if there’s a particular thing you wish someone would de-mystify let me know and I’ll work it into the session.

Find out more and register here if you aren’t already signed up. And if you are signed up, let me know – I’d love to host a COUNTER get-together before the gala reception!
